Winter Reading

Winter Reading
Susan Brantley

Our students have an easy, fun, and totally free way to keep their minds active over winter break: READING! Teachers are encouraging families to keep the learning going by joining in on some simple activities that make reading feel more like a holiday treat than homework. Kids can complete the December library challenge or work on the district-wide Blizzard Book Challenge, both designed to spark curiosity and encourage trying out new books.

Families can also swing by their local public library for great books, cozy spaces, and special winter break events. And for days spent relaxing at home, online Library Resources make it super easy to grab an e-book or audiobook in seconds. Whether students are curled up reading on the couch or safely researching online, winter break is a perfect time to discover something new—just like Jacqueline Kennedy once said, “There are many little ways to enlarge your child’s world. Love of books is the best of all.”

Happy reading!
