Blizzard Book Challenge

Blizzard Book Challenge
Susan Brantley

CFBISD students are invited to bundle up with a good book and participate in the Blizzard Book Challenge, a district-wide initiative designed to encourage reading for fun and skill development! Get ready to read your way through the season and earn sweet rewards for your class.

The challenge is simple: read as many minutes as you can from November 6 - January 6 and log your time to help your class compete for top honors! All students are encouraged to join the fun.

❄️ How to Participate and Log Minutes

Students have several ways to track their reading minutes, ensuring everyone can participate easily:

  • Pre-K and Kindergarten: May log minutes read aloud by a teacher or parent as part of their total reading time.
  • 1st - 5th Grade: Read in Amira Learning and log independent reading minutes at home or school.

The elementary goal is to read 400+ total minutes (Amira + independent reading).

🏆 Sweet Rewards for Top Readers!

The motivation to read is soaring with some truly "chill" prizes on the line!

All participants will earn a certificate for completing the challenge. The top-performing classes at the elementary level with the highest total number of logged reading minutes will win a visit from the Kona Ice Snowcone Truck! 🍧

Parents and Guardians: Please encourage your student to log their minutes accurately and regularly. Whether through Amira or an independent log, every minute counts toward their class goal and, more importantly, toward building a lifelong love of reading! Happy Reading!
